How are Marmaris hospitals and Emergency units handling the situation Dear Friends, For the last few weeks there are more talks about the second wave. Ankara was given the name of “Wuhan” city for the currect crisis with rapidly increased number of COVID-19 patients.On the daily news we listen to the Turkish authorities who keep telling the measures will be increased.Needless to say we stayed away from hospitals and healthcare places.All kinds of stories are told about how busy and overcrowded local hospitals and emergency units are in our small resort of Marmaris.Since there is no way to be able to see statistics on how busy hospitals are in Marmaris we have decided to take the step and made two random visits to one of the major hospitals in Marmaris which claims to have sufficient critical supplies and the capacity to treat non-COVID patients.First visit was in the evening when Click here for details >>

LESSENING RESTRICTIONS IN TURKEY

Dear Friends We hope you are all safe and healthy.Here’s the latest news about the lessening of the restrictions in Turkey. The restaurants and cafes are open from 7am until 7pm in all areas except for the extremely high risk area. Limited to 50% capacity. (effective 02/03/2021) Curfew hours imposed from 21:00 until 05:00 am are continued in all of the country. (effective 02/03/2021) Weekend lockdowns are lifted for low risk areas. (effective 02/03/2021)Sunday lockdowns are continued in high risk areas. (effective 02/03/2021)Weekend lockdown is continued in extremely high risk areas. (effective 02/03/2021) 65+ and under 20 years old restrictions are lifted for low and minor risk areas.High risk and extremely high risk areas restrict the hours to be out from 10:00 – 14:00 for people over 65 years of age, while anyone younger than 20 can go out from 14:00 – 18:00. Health Alert: COVID-19 Related Restrictions in Turkey – Update

April 14, 2021 The Government of Turkey announced the following measures to combat COVID-19 in Turkey, which are going into effect at 19:00 on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, in all provinces, for the following two weeks: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: curfew in effect from 19:00 to 05:00* exceptions to the curfew will apply to tourists Saturdays and Sundays: curfew in effect from Friday at 19:00 to Monday at 05:00*exceptions to the curfew will apply to tourists Convenience stores (market), groceries, bread shops, butchers, nut shops as well as production, manufacturing, supply chains, and health workers are exempt from the weekend curfew. According to researchers at the Oxford University Blavatnik School of Government who monitor government shutdown orders and other interventions, it is not. The Oxford University use a Stringency Index based on which Turkey in general scores high on community understanding and engagement with a score of 0.8 out of 1. Guess who is back in town? More countries resuming flights to Dalaman this week!

Dear Friends, Guess who is back in town? As we are writing this article the first charter flight from Moscow, Russia is landing in the Dalaman International Airport. There are four more flights from Russian cities of Moscow and St.Petersburg today. Along with these today Dalaman airport will welcome numerous flights from UK cities of Cardiff, Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Liverpool, Birmingham, EastMidlands, Leeds Bradford and Bristol. As well as flights from the Northern Ireland city of Belfast and Ukraine’s Kyiv and Lviv. We are thrilled that more holiday makers are coming on holiday to Marmaris and for many this is their first summer holiday this year. Let’s make it an extra special one here in Marmaris, Turkey! COVID-19 preventative measures: a Turkish story It’s a quiet morning on a lockdown day the 20th of June 2020 in Marmaris which allows us to share the latest information on the measures in response to the COVID-19 outbreak here in Turkey and Marmaris. Social distancing and wearing masks are among the primary aims to prevent the spread of a virus. Because of the cultural difference of Turkish people from let’s say from Japan or Korea. When the authorities say something most of us in Turkey make up our own mind, discuss with family and friends and usually do not listen to what was told. It’s the same as to wearing helmets for motorcyclists, seat belts in cars, baby chairs in cars, smoking in restaurants in Turkey.
