Will Marmaris prices rise this year? Will Marmaris beaches be opening soon? A new season will show if we will be paying more for hotels, bars and restaurants in Marmaris. According to the restaurants in Marmaris that have reopened in June 2020 their prices have not changed since pandemic closure. The seaside cafes on the Long Beach are serving Turkish Breakfast for the old 250 Turkish lira price or just £7 GBP or €8 Euros. For many of you this costs less than their daily breakfast cost at home. The exchange rates are at their highest with a 1 GBP to 8,6 Turkish liras, 1 Euro to 7,7 Turkish liras and 1 USD to 6,8 Turkish liras. Yet one reason for the price increase is demand. To Wear or Not to Wear a Face Mask that is the question Face masks were made mandatory in Marmaris and all of Turkey on April 03 2020. The fines for not wearing a mask varied from 250 TL up to 1000 TL. Everyone without an exception had to wear a mask in any crowded places, markets, village markets, public transport, as well as private transport. Up until today June 06th 2020 the city of Marmaris required citizens to wear masks in public places, including seaside promenade and the beach. To ease the restrictions the beach and sea access was allowed as of June 01st. The Authorities of Marmaris have taken it further to allow visiting the seaside and the beach without face masks. Marmaris reports first COVID-19 death

Marmaris reported its first death from novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in August 2020, this is the first death in our small town, announced by the Mayor of Marmaris Mr Mehmet Oktay on the local TV channel Kanal48. He was deeply saddened to speak about the death of a Marmaris local and expressed his condolences to the family. He went further on to warn the residents and visitors of Marmaris to take the situation very seriously and comply with the issued requirements, precautions and measures to stop the spread of coronavirus. This is the first death associated with COVID-19 in Marmaris, the coastal tourist resort of 98 thousand population and zero COVID-19 cases to mid summer.
