Everyone in the hospitality industry here in Marmaris have been amazing. At one point we didn’t know anything when or how the season would start. Hotels needed loads of adjustments to make it happen. They were required to install thermal cameras, employ medical personnel, place social distancing signs, and provide tons of supplies including face masks, hand sanitizers, but above all hotels are required to form a dedicated team to handle a COVID19 suspected or confirmed cases. It was a lot of work that continues to be every hotel’s management task. It was overwhelming to finance and prepare for all these new requirements so a large number of hotels kept their doors shut. As soon as flights from Europe to Turkey have resumed we were truly delighted to see full flights to Dalaman and Bodrum airports. The weekends are on full lockdown starting each Friday evening 21:00 hrs until Monday morning 05:00 A.M. The New Year’s Eve is promising to become the longest ‘stay at home’ challenge that will last from the 31st of December 2020 21:00 hrs till the 04th of January 2021. Here we go again: new restrictions in Turkey Here we go again: new restrictions in Turkey. Because of the rise in new COVID19 cases in Turkey and lack of community understanding, the government has introduced new measures to fight the spread of COVID19. One of the most recent restrictions is that people over 65 years of age are now allowed to go out from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. At the moment, the curfew for the elderly apply to Ankara and Istanbul residents only. An exception has been made for public servants and certain professionals, including doctors, healthcare workers, pharmacists, elected public officials, social workers and others. Business owners, traders, industrialists, farmers, those who are self-employed and the heads of professional associations have been also exempted from restrictions. Covid-19: New restrictions

Covid-19: New restrictions Covid restrictions are to be further tightened in all of Turkey this week, starting tomorrow Wednesday November 18th, with the closure of pubs and restaurants. The worst-affected areas remain to be Istanbul and Ankara. A week’s school holidays will be continued until end of the year as per official announcement tonight. One of the most recent restrictions is that people under 20 years of age are now allowed to go out from 1 P.M. until 4 P.M. While people over 65 years of age are now allowed to go out from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m in Turkey. Weekend lockdown hours are from 8PM till 10AM. This means you can go out from 10AM until 8 PM only on weekends in Turkey and Marmaris. Shopping centers and markets, barbers, coiffures, take away services will close at 8PM. Ankara was given the name of “Wuhan” city for the currect crisis with rapidly increased number of COVID-19 patients.On the daily news we listen to the Turkish authorities who keep telling the measures will be increased.Needless to say we stayed away from hospitals and healthcare places.All kinds of stories are told about how busy and overcrowded local hospitals and emergency units are in our small resort of Marmaris.Since there is no way to be able to see statistics on how busy hospitals are in Marmaris we have decided to take the step and made two random visits to one of the major hospitals in Marmaris which claims to have sufficient critical supplies and the capacity to treat non-COVID patients.First visit was in the evening when Click here for details >>

The restaurants and cafes are open from 7am until 7pm in all areas except for the extremely high risk area. Limited to 50% capacity.
