Is there a fire near Marmaris?

As the wildfire season in Turkey continues, and with the safety of our residents and visitors our top priority, MarmarisInfo continues to notify about most recent wildfires in our area based on the local, county, and state resources to help effectively monitor ongoing wildfire activity, and track air quality. The current wildfire in Datca Peninsula threatens biodiversity including the sandalwood, wild pistachio, mastic trees, olive trees, and animal species like wild goats, caracals (Karakulak) and grizzly bears. The wildfire has continued in Betce in Datca peninsula. This part of Datca Peninsula is the most virgin part inhabited by wild goats, caracals (Karakulak) and grizzly bear. In case the fire moved to the highest mountain Kocadağ 1162m we are facing extinction of these species, says Dr Yasin İlemin who has been working in the area for 15 years. Forest fire on the last lockdown Sunday in Icmeler Marmaris Today’s the last lockdown Sunday, but also the first time the forest fire broke out above Icmeler, Marmaris. A large number of firefighters rushed to the scene, but the main support always comes from above, the helicopter firefighters were fast to fight the forest fire today. The weather is hot and windy, the main reasons to cause fire in the coastal towns, and we hear of a series of fires in Bodrum and Kaş on previous days. Marmaris Fires05/08/2021 Marmaris Fires. For the past 8 days Turkey has been fighting against the most catastrophic wildfires in history. The scale of it is escalating every single day… The wildfire in Amos (the bay next to Turunc) could not be put down and burned all night long. So did the area of Oren and all of Turkey held its breath as the fire moved towards the thermal power station. Thanks to the heroic actions of firefighters, rescue teams, rescue volunteers and local communities they stood firmly against fires last night and stopped it. The station did not burn last night. Where we are in Marmaris the resort and its hotels are safe and fully operating. Many of the hotels, apartments and villas in Marmaris have generously opened their doors to provide free accommodation to fire victims. We post about this on social media so its easier to follow.
