Everyone in the hospitality industry here in Marmaris have been amazing. At one point we didn’t know anything when or how the season would start. Hotels needed loads of adjustments to make it happen. They were required to install thermal cameras, employ medical personnel, place social distancing signs, and provide tons of supplies including face masks, hand sanitizers, but above all hotels are required to form a dedicated team to handle a COVID19 suspected or confirmed cases. It was a lot of work that continues to be every hotel’s management task. It was overwhelming to finance and prepare for all these new requirements so a large number of hotels kept their doors shut. We are nearing the last month of the season and the ‘wear your mask’ game rules are becoming tighter in Marmaris. After a long break local authorities have resumed random checks on how well people in Marmaris are following the #1 rule of the pandemic: wearing a face mask.Police raids took place in the center of Marmaris last month after a long break. Now another check by local authorities is taking place around Marmaris busiest tourist places like the Long Beach, the central avenue of Ataturk, the Love Alley, the Grand Bazaar and others. Be Aware: Counterfeit Money in Circulation in Resort

If you believe that counterfeit 20 Pound bills should be incredibly rare, think again. A taxi driver in Marmaris revealed counterfeit 20 Pound bills when a Scottish tourist who is currently on holiday in Marmaris paid for a taxi ride. When the taxi driver took the money paid by the tourist to the bank for exchange, he learned that 20 pounds was counterfeit. He immediately reported this to the police. The police in Marmaris is fast to react and the prosecutor’s office issued a search order for Marmaris Police Department Public Security Bureau teams to examine security camera records. Police determined that the tourist who paid counterfeit money was David T. Later same day it was determined that the Scottish tourist was staying in a 5-star hotel in Siteler area of Marmaris, a search was carried out in his hotel room. Help is on its way to Izmir earthquake survivors

As we are writing this article trucks loaded with help from Marmaris are well under way to reach their destination IZMIR. Within a week of the disaster Marmaris community has felt a heavy heart for its victims. This morning the mayor of Marmaris Mr Mehmet Oktay has thanked all Marmaris residents for taking part in collecting help for Izmir’s earth quake survivors. After a magnitude 7.0 earthquake in the Aegean Sea struck Izmir, Turkey and the island of Samos, Greece the earthquake aftermath fell heavy on Izmir with 114 dead and at least 900 injured. Turkish Republic President Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis exchanged their condolences for the tragic loss of life from the earthquake that struck both countries.
