With the major decline of the main revenue sources in a hotel being room and food & beverage, Marmaris and Icmeler hotels have created their own extra fees that are payable on location.
These fees are not listed on any of the tour operators offers nor hotels’ own resources.
When you check in a friendly receptionist tells or shows you the list of extras, some of which are essential for your well being and safety on holiday.
The most common fees being, at any type of accommodation in Marmaris from self catering to 5 star hotels:
1- Safety deposit boxes, with fees ranging from £5 for a day or £15 – 45 for a week
2- English and international TV channels, with fees ranging from £15 for a week
3- Internet in rooms, with fees ranging from £5 for a day, for 1 device. But even with paid internet the coverage may fail especially when there is a power outage which is typical for Marmaris. Internet fees generate billing errors, too. It’s best to stay out of the hotel’s internet connection altogether if possible.
4- All Inclusive Drinks are free only from 10.00 until 22:00 or any different time set by hotel, after which you start paying.
5- Cocktails and imported drinks are not on all inclusive, sold for top prices in hotels compared to the rest of restaurants and bars in Marmaris and Icmeler. According to TripAdvisor.com reviews many find all inclusive drinks ‘undrinkable’. Drinks around the pool are served in paper cups…
6- Turkish coffee is not on all inclusive, as well as other coffee choices
7- Laundry and ironing fees
8- Late check out fees
9- Highly rated hotels become even more creative and charge for services like a day bed on the hotel jetty, with fees from £30 or room upgrades from £35 per night, ‘suites come with nothing appropriate considering the room category’
10- Self catering apartments charge for air-conditioning, with fees ranging from £30 per week
