Health Alert: COVID-19 Related Restrictions in Turkey – Update

The Government of Turkey announced the following measures to combat COVID-19 in Turkey, which are going into effect at 19:00 on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, in all provinces, for the following two weeks:

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: curfew in effect from 19:00 to 05:00* exceptions to the curfew will apply to tourists

Saturdays and Sundays: curfew in effect from Friday at 19:00 to Monday at 05:00*exceptions to the curfew will apply to tourists

Convenience stores (market), groceries, bread shops, butchers, nut shops as well as production, manufacturing, supply chains, and health workers are exempt from the weekend curfew. For individuals not affected by the age-specific curfews, listed below can be outside on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 17:00 to meet essential needs at the nearest convenience stores (market), grocery, bread shop, butcher, nut shop on the condition that they do not drive, except for the handicapped individuals.

Business hours are limited to 07:00 – 18:00 on weekdays.

Shopping centers and supermarkets opening hours are 10:00.

Individuals age 65 and over are only allowed outside during the hours of 10:00-14:00 on weekdays.

Individuals age 18 and below are only allowed outside during the hours of 14:00-18:00 on weekdays.

Individuals age 65 over and 18 and younger children under 18 are not allowed to use public transport on any day of the week.

Non essential travel outside of cities (intercity travel) is banned during curfew hours and weekends. Permission for essential travel during curfew hours and weekends will be granted only by public transport (plane, bus, tain, ship etc.)

Essential Travel Reasons include:

health reasons such as hospital appointments, medical reports, medical check up;

Death of an immediate relative to an individual or spouse (funerals are limited to 8 persons in attendance)

Examinations announced by OSYM and other exams requiring attendance for students and accompanying person

Permits for essential travel by own transport are granted by the Ministry of Interior online (application E-BAŞVURU online) or by telephone 199 (on call) or by District Governorships (Valilik / Kaymakamlık).

Dining establishments such as restaurants, patisseries, cafes, and cafeterias will no longer be open for in-person dining until 24:00 16 May 2021 Sunday. However, they will continue to offer Delivery and Take Away services.

Delivery or in-restaurant Take Away service hours: 07:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to ‘sahur’ hour on Saturdays and Sundays.

Soccer fields, swimming pools, gyms, beauty centers, hamams (Turkish baths) and saunas, theme parks and amusement parks, coffee houses, cafes, internet cafes, game centers, etc. will be closed until Monday 17 May 2021.

Barbers and hairdressers will only be open for service during weekdays from 10:00.

Tea houses will be serving only tradesman.

Weddings and marriage registration will continue on Monday 17 May 2021. In this period of time engagements, bridal henna parties, ceremonies, wedding parties are not allowed.

City transport is limited to half capacity.

Minibuses and smaller buses are not allowed to carry passengers on foot.

Tourist accommodations are allowed to serve guests who are booked to stay at the accommodation. Seating is arranged at 2 guests per table.

Government services like courts, tax offices, etc. will be open to public from 10:00 to 16:00 until further notice.

Actions to Take:

– Follow local restrictions.

– Follow social distancing public health recommendations.

– Check local regulations.

– Carry identity and travel documents at all times.

What you need to do before you arrive in Turkey

Before you travel you must:

– take a coronavirus (COVID-19) test and get a negative result during the 72 hours before you travel.

– complete a Traveler Entry form with your travel details and ID documents. You must complete this form for all passengers except passengers under 6. The form can be accessed at  https://register.health.gov.tr/
