One of the most important national days in Turkey is here: the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. The great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk has continually emphasized the role of the youth and children, who are the future of the Republic of Turkey.
To mark the day, we’re also getting an extra day off on Friday meaning it’s going to be a festive day and one big, weekend-long party. The festivities are expected to include no less than one procession, an official parade and free concerts and dancing Sunday May 18 to Monday May 19.

You’ll no doubt notice Marmaris is looking slightly different over this weekend. Marmaris streets are filled with national flags and huge portraits of Atatürk. Red and white balloons will hang out from cafes and restaurants, Turkish flags and flower beds and people wearing red and white will start to appear earlier this week before May 19th.

On May 18 you may watch sports competitions on the Public beach and Türkmenistan Park at 13:00.
On May 18 attend a free concert “Gökçe” at 21:00 on the 19th of May Square by the central Dancing Fountain.
On May 18 attend the dance performance by ‘100 Yıllık Emanet Cumhuriyet Dans Tiyatrosu’ at 22:30 on the 19th of May Square by the central Dancing Fountain.

On May 19 at 09:30 flowers and flower wreaths will be laid at Atatürk’s Monument
On May 19 at 10:30 an official parade will take place at the City Stadium
The Turkish Coast Guard Ship to visitors today to commemorate the Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. The visiting hours are from 09:00 – 17:00 on Marmaris Municipality Pier.
The Turkish Naval Ship is open to visitors on May 19 2025 from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00. Visitors will be transferred by boats from Atatürk Square to the ship throughout the day.
Chess tournament will take place at the Swimming Education Center in Marmaris from 12:00 on May 19th.
Join the Torchlight Procession from Ketenci Hotel at 20:30 to walk down to Atatürk Square. Please note this part of the road will be closed to traffic for the procession.
Attend a free concert of the rock group “Bulutsuz Özlem” at 21:00 on Atatürk Square, followed by the dance performance of ‘100 Yıllık Emanet Cumhuriyet Dans Tiyatrosu’ on the 19th of May Square by the central Dancing Fountain.
