This year marks the 3rd year of Book Days in Marmaris. Initially introduced by UNESCO in 1995 as World Book Day, and in 1997 in the UK and Ireland. One of the main goals of the Book Days is to promote reading for pleasure. Let’s see when are the Book days and how are they celebrated in Marmaris? In 2023 Book Days are set to be celebrated from the 20th of July until the 10th of August in Marmaris. You will never guess what is coming to Marmaris

You will never guess what is coming to Marmaris This cultural heritage event takes place over 600 years in Turkey and we have heard of the championships held in nearby villages. Edirne is the main town where such championships are held regularly. Now it is coming to Marmaris. Can you guess what is coming to Marmaris? Not to worry if you can’t guess the event as we could have never guessed it either. The epic championship of Oil Wrestling is coming to Marmaris on Tuesday May 09 2023. The registration of wrestlers will be at 09:00 – 10:00. The oil wrestling competition will begin at 12:00 on the stadium Gölenye in Icmeler. Everyone is welcome means it a free event open to public!

Will Marmaris International Culture & Arts Festival be going ahead?

Unfortunately with the continuing wildfire in Bordubet Marmaris the Festival committee has just announced the cancellation and postponement of some of the concerts that were planned for the weekend. The reasons for cancelling and postponing the concerts given were physical and psychological conditions created by the wildfire. The concert of Bogazici Youth Choir scheduled for the 25th of June at Marmaris Amphitheatre and İlyas Mirzayev and Muğla Folk Symphony and MAKSAD Chamber Orchestra scheduled for the 28th of June at Marmaris Amphitheatre will be postponed to a later date in autumn. The new concert dates are yet to be announced by the Festival committee. The Children’s theatre that was planned for the 24th of June in Turgut has been cancelled. According to the Festival committee public health is the main priority.
