Tremor of 3.9 magnitude hits Muğla near Marmaris
Earthquake felt in several parts of Gökova and Marmaris. The tremor struck the small town Ula near Muğla but the shake was also felt in neighbouring Gökova and Marmaris, as well as in Greece.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 shook the local area on Saturday evening.
The tremor was felt in several parts of Mugla province including Marmaris around 23:38, sparking a flurry of comments on social media, despite the late hour. People reported being alerted by shaking furniture in areas including Icmeler and Beldibi in Marmaris .
Kandilli Observatory And Earthquake Research Institute has been reporting 27 tremors in the past 24 hours in the area of Muğla.
According to seismologists periodic tremors are common and should not cause alarm.
