‘Tis the Valentine’s or just another day in Marmaris

One thing is certain Marmaris is not obsessed with the Valentine’s Day. Yes, the prices of roses and chocolates are breaking records on February 14th. Yet roses were never cheap here in Turkey. Marmaris was fast to embrace the tradition of Valentine’s Day in its own way. With years it has become another commercial day for shops enforcing the Day of Love onto Turkish people and the expats who love to celebrate holidays like they used to back home. Several restaurants are offering menus with whopping prices tonight. Instead, you could just walk along the seafront to the Marina, where all the decorations for the Valentine’s Day are on display and you could hear live music. Cuddle up as you walk through the beach on Uzunyali (The Long Beach) then have a good old smooch under the lights in Marmaris marina which light up the streets and the promenade. If you are alone you will feel very comfortable in Marmaris if you avoid the marina area these days 🙂
