As the new visa system was implemented in Turkey the number of refused entry to the country has been growing. It is easier to apply for your visa online at https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/, at least one week before departure. For long-term visas you would still need to apply to the nearest consulate or embassy of Turkey.
