Small open fishing boats putter across to Paradise island in the still of
the early morning, carving a chuckling wake on the open sea. In fact fishing is
one of the main 'off season' activities for the locals some of whom try to catch fish from
ashore. Although not much luck it is a great way to spend free time.
As for the foreign residents in Marmaris and Turkey there are new requirements
levied by the new scheme of health insurance. Marmaris British consulate and
other foreign consulates are assisting their nationals to acquire complete scope
of information to enable them to make a decision.

Every Thursday
and Sunday there is a weekly village
market in Marmaris. Icmeler village market is on Wednesdays. The fruit
and vegetable market is a visual delight and the market is also good for
things like sumac and pomegranate molasses which are not readily
available elsewhere.
The weekly market stalls are laden with fresh lemons, oranges,
mandarines, apples and
fresh herbs, spices, Turkish delight, lokum, even some clothes, basic
shoe and beach wear in Icmeler and Marmaris markets.
